It\u2019s now the primary Soyuz launch facility at Baikonur after the decommissioning of nearby Complex 1, which was the departure point in 1957 for Sputnik \u2014 the first artificial satellite \u2014 and Yuri Gagarin in 1961, when he became the first human to travel into space.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43424\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43424\" style=\"width: 1200px\"
