{"id":13675,"date":"2018-07-25T20:42:37","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T12:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/video-falcon-9-lifts-off-in-a-veil-of-fog\/"},"modified":"2018-07-25T20:42:37","modified_gmt":"2018-07-25T12:42:37","slug":"video-falcon-9-lifts-off-in-a-veil-of-fog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/video-falcon-9-lifts-off-in-a-veil-of-fog\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Falcon 9 lifts off in a veil of fog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/281708805\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Video credit: SpaceX<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A thick marine layer blanketing Vandenberg Air Force Base in California restricted views of SpaceX\u2019s Falcon 9 rocket lifting off early Wednesday, but cameras fixed to the launcher provided spectacular imagery of the predawn departure with 10 Iridium satellites on-board.<\/p>\n<p>The Falcon 9 took off from Space Launch Complex 4-East at Vandenberg at 4:39:30 a.m. PDT (7:39:30 a.m. EDT; 1139:30 GMT) Wednesday on SpaceX\u2019s seventh of eight missions for Iridium, which is replacing its aging low Earth orbit data relay network with fresh satellites.<\/p>\n<p>Riding 1.7 million pounds of thrust, the launcher pierced a layer of fog and climbed through the stratosphere powered by nine Merlin main engines.<\/p>\n<p>The rocket\u2019s first stage made a successful landing on SpaceX\u2019s drone ship \u201cJust Read the Instructions\u201d parked in the Pacific Ocean south of Vandenberg, following boost-back and entry burns to steer the booster toward its landing target.
