EDF is the EU\u2019s programme for collaborative defence research and development, designed to strengthen industrial cooperation and support the development of shared capabilities across Member States. <strong>KONGSBERG<\/strong>\u2019s participation, with a total EU contribution of approximately EUR 280 million, reflects a broad role in the development of future defence capabilities for Europe.<\/p>\n<div class=\"widget-layout related-content-also-read-box my-3\">\n<h4 class=\"mb-0\">Also Read: What are Antenna Pointing Mechanisms?<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBeing selected in seven projects, representing more than ten per cent of the total portfolio, confirms KONGSBERG\u2019s ability to compete in a highly selective European programme,\u201d says <strong>Arne Rinnan, CTO at KONGSBERG<\/strong>. The selected projects include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>FAMOUS3<\/strong> aims to maximise synergies, standardisation and interoperability, while reducing lifecycle costs for all-terrain and light armoured vehicles.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>E-DOMINION<\/strong> addresses the digitalisation of naval platforms and the development of integrated combat cloud capabilities for maritime operations.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ECC2<\/strong> develops a sovereign, federated cyber command and control solution, enabling EU and Member States to coordinate and execute operations in cyberspace.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>SPIRIT<\/strong> develops advanced integrated circuits combined with infrared materials, supporting next-generation sensing technologies.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>EVOLVE<\/strong> strengthens training and education through more efficient use of available assets.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEXTSWIR<\/strong> demonstrates advanced infrared sensor technologies for long-range observation and early warning, based on HgCdTe avalanche photodiode (APD) technology.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>SPIDER2<\/strong> develops a constellation of affordable satellites for space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese projects enable us to bring technologies from development into operational use, in close cooperation with European partners,\u201d says Rinnan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Commission has allocated EUR 1.07 billion to 57 projects under the 2025 EDF programme, part of a total budget of EUR 7.3 billion for the period 2021\u20132027.
