Smith and producer J.J. Abrams on a harder-edged version of the Starship Enterprise\u2019s saga.<\/p>\n<p>Nerdist has already put together a must-see video trailer for a Tarantino-tinged Trek, titled \u201cQuentin Tarantino\u2019s Star Trek: Voyage to Vengeance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Quentin Tarantino\u2019s Star Trek (Nerdist Presents)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v3Nv2R9Acec?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\" data-ratio=\"0.5625\" data-width=\"800\" data-height=\"450\" style=\"display: block; margin: 0px; width: 800px; height: 450px;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The clip artfully stitches together snippets from the original \u201cStar Trek\u201d series, going heavy on the fisticuffs, machine guns, whips and a trashy drive-in vibe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s just one thing I want,\u201d Captain Kirk intones, as only William Shatner could.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRevenge, Captain?\u201d says Spock (as embodied by the late, great Leonard Nimoy).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy not?\u201d Kirk answers, followed by the blast of phasers and the twang of guitars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a galaxy of green blood, green women \u2026 and Nazis,\u201d the narrator deadpans.<\/p>\n<p>Back in our real-world galaxy, actor-director Kevin Smith talked about the Tarantino maneuver with John Cho, who plays Sulu in the new-generation Star Trek movie series, in a video interview for IMDB.com.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis proposition excites me as a fan, but as somebody who\u2019s in the Star Trek universe, how does it hit you?\u201d Smith asked Cho.<\/p>\n<p>Cho said he had no firsthand knowledge about what\u2019s in the works, \u201cbut having said that, the idea is very exciting to me, because I\u2019m a big fan of Quentin\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just one question, Quentin: Is there a part for Jeff Bezos?<\/p>\n<p><em>Hat tip to BoingBoing.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What would an R-rated \u201cStar Trek\u201d movie directed by Quentin Tarantino look like?
