Few people can geek out to a movie harder than astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, but he met his match when it came to Thor\u2019s hammer.<\/p>\n

Tyson, who\u2019s the director of New York\u2019s Hayden Planetarium as well as the host of such TV shows as \u201cStarTalk\u201d and \u201cCosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,\u201d is likely to tell the tale during his sold-out lectures at Seattle\u2019s Paramount Theater on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

He may also touch on the other Hollywood reality checks he\u2019s conducted over the years \u2013 like the time he went on a Twitter rant over the scientific inaccuracies in \u201cGravity,\u201d or complained about a screwed-up sky in \u201cTitanic\u201d (which led director James Cameron to correct the scene for the film\u2019s re-release in 3-D).<\/p>\n

After all, the title of his talk is \u201cAn Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tempest over Mjolnir, the hammer wielded by Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel movies), marks one of the rare times when Tyson admits he was out-geeked at the movies. Back in 2013, he picked up on the claim that the super-heavy hammer was forged in the heart of a dying star \u2013 and mused about its mass in a tweet:<\/p>\n
