While Amazon has outlined ambitions to cover about 95% of the global population, the constellation remains incomplete.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"860\">Since the project\u2019s introduction, Amazon has launched prototype satellites, previewed customer antennas, and described plans for a space-based laser mesh network. But the first significant deployment \u2014 a batch of 27 satellites \u2014 did not launch until April 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"1120\">The pace contrasts with that of SpaceX\u2019s Starlink, which began beta service in 2020 and has since expanded rapidly. Starlink now has partnerships with T-Mobile for satellite-enabled texting and with several airlines to test or provide in-flight connectivity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1315\">The new Amazon Leo branding suggests the company is moving closer to positioning its network as a market-ready product, though Amazon remains behind its main competitor in deployment and scale.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1515\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Amazon has not announced when its satellite internet service will become broadly available for consumer or commercial use.
