Space technology start-up Spacecoin said it has signed agreements to pilot satellite internet and connectivity services in four countries across Africa and Southeast Asia, as it seeks to advance a decentralized, blockchain-enabled satellite network aimed at underserved regions.<\/p>\n
The company said on Wednesday that pilot projects will be launched in Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia and Cambodia. Under the agreements, Spacecoin will supply satellite infrastructure and core technology, while working with local partners to manage ground operations and provide user support.<\/p>\n
Spacecoin has been testing its concept of a permissionless, decentralized internet delivered from space. In November, the company launched three satellites and previously said it successfully transmitted a blockchain transaction from orbit as part of its proof-of-concept demonstrations.<\/p>\n
In Kenya, Spacecoin said it has secured a transmission licence from the Communications Authority of Kenya to provide satellite-based internet-of-things monitoring services and expand connectivity in underconnected areas. In Nigeria, the company is building on an existing licence from the Nigerian Communications Commission to support plans for low-cost, high-speed connectivity in rural communities.<\/p>\n
In Southeast Asia, Spacecoin has entered into a strategic partnership with Cambodian internet service provider MekongNet to deliver satellite internet access to rural and underserved populations. The company is also working with local partners and government agencies in Indonesia on similar connectivity initiatives.<\/p>\n

The pilots come as satellite-based broadband and IoT services attract growing interest from governments and development agencies seeking alternatives to costly terrestrial infrastructure in remote regions.
