York Space Systems has filed a registration statement for an initial public offering (IPO), moving the 13-year-old satellite manufacturer toward a public listing as demand for national security space systems accelerates.<\/p>\n
The company did not disclose proposed pricing terms or targeted valuation in the Form S-1 filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). If approved, York\u2019s shares would trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker \u201cYSS.\u201d<\/p>\n
York is backed by private equity firm AE Industrial Partners, though the filing did not specify how much of the company AEI currently controls or how its stake would change following an offering.<\/p>\n
The company reported $253.5 million in revenue in 2024, up 6% from the prior year, while its net loss widened to $98.1 million from $29.7 million in 2023. For the first nine months of 2025, revenue increased 59% to $280.9 million, while net losses narrowed to $56 million, compared with $73.6 million in the same period a year earlier. Operating cash outflows reached $88.2 million for the period.<\/p>\n
York\u2019s order backlog totaled $642 million as of the end of September, down from $861.7 million at the end of 2024. The company said it employs more than 670 staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cSubstantially all of our sales and backlog are derived from our work supporting the Space Development Agency\u2019s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture,\u201d York said in the filing. The firm has secured about 14% of the total contract value awarded so far within the SDA program, which includes communications and missile-warning satellites.<\/p>\n
