The mission will have its next major development milestone next Monday before finally saying \u201cyes\u201d to launch.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-41388\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an update, NASA shared Europa Clipper \u201cremains on track\u201d to hit its launch window that opens up on October 10. It was also cleared of its transistor issue, which stemmed from determining if they could handle the intense levels of radiation around Jupiter. The statement stated the transistors would be able to support \u201cthe baseline mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe [Europa Clipper] science is so worth it,\u201d said Laurie Leshin, Director of NASA\u2019s JPL, on social media. \u201cWe want to be sure we can get every bit of it! Now onward to the final gauntlet of reviews to certify we\u2019re ready for launch and ops!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spacecraft will launch on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket, the second major NASA science mission to be launched on it. The $5 billion mission will make its way into an orbit around Jupiter and perform 44 low-altitude flybys of the planet\u2019s moon Europa.<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<script type=\"text\/plain\">\n\t\t\twindow.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tadSlotsConfig.push( {\n\t\t\t\tslotID: '\/1049447\/Outbrain',\n\t\t\t\tslotName: 'div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-41388',\n\t\t\t\tsizes: [300, 250],\n\t\t\t\tslotPosition: 'mid_article'\n\t\t\t} );\n\t\t<\/script><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europa Clipper\u2019s mission will be to study the moon\u2019s surface and potentially confirm the existence of a large subsurface ocean. Because of this believed ocean, Europa is thought to be one of the few locations in our solar system to host life (microbial).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europa Clipper is a follow-up mission from the Galileo orbiter that orbited Jupiter from 1995 until 2003.
