Wednesday, the program announced a new launch date of July 31.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-40921\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polaris Dawn is the first mission of the Polaris Program, funded and commanded by Inspiration4\u2019s Jared Issacman. The mission has been highly anticipated as it will feature the first commercial spacewalk and new spacesuits built by SpaceX to support these operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission has been long delayed with the most recent launch date being July 12, however there were signs that launch wasn\u2019t going to happen. Actually, it slipped my mind entirely that the launch date was July 12 until the day before the mission announced its new July 31 date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Safe to assume that if you\u2019re a week out from your launch date and there\u2019s been no word from any of its members about preparing for launch, then that date probably isn\u2019t happening.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<script type=\"text\/plain\">\n\t\t\twindow.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tadSlotsConfig.push( {\n\t\t\t\tslotID: '\/1049447\/Outbrain',\n\t\t\t\tslotName: 'div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-40921',\n\t\t\t\tsizes: [300, 250],\n\t\t\t\tslotPosition: 'mid_article'\n\t\t\t} );\n\t\t<\/script><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Issacman shared on Wednesday that they have reach a \u201ccritical milestone\u201d with SpaceX to get the mission ready to launch but didn\u2019t elaborate what that milestone was. However, it was enough to give a new launch date just a couple weeks later than previously planned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Polaris Program has two main objectives: Push SpaceX\u2019s ability to development human exploration technology and raise funds for St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital.
