A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow on the planet. A hybrid eclipse, also known as an annular-total eclipse, is a unique event where the eclipse appears as a total eclipse in some areas, and as an annular eclipse in others.<\/p>\n

The path of the hybrid solar eclipse will begin in the Southern Ocean and travel up and across the North West Cape of Australia, East Timor, through the eastern portion of the scattered Indonesian islands, and will end in the western Pacific Ocean. It\u2019s in these areas where observers will witness a total eclipse.<\/p>\n
