The contract would increase L3Harris\u2019 annual production rate of Zeus motors by more than 50% and follows the successful development and flight test of both the Zeus 1 and 2 motors by Kratos.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are pleased to continue working with&nbsp;<\/em><em>Kratos<\/em><em>&nbsp;and to support significant production increases for the Zeus advanced large solid rocket motors,\u201d <strong>said Ken Bedingfield, President, Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris.<\/strong> \u201cBy incorporating cutting-edge&nbsp;<\/em><em>propulsion<\/em><em>&nbsp;technology and delivering unmatched performance, these motors meet the rigorous demands of today&#8217;s missions while scaling for the challenges of tomorrow.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The motors are for Kratos\u2019 U.S. Department of War customers for their hypersonic vehicle and ballistic missile defense testing of programs such as the Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonic Test Bed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"widget-layout related-content-also-read-box my-3\">\n<h4 class=\"mb-0\">Also Read: What are Software-Defined Satellites and Their Role in Next-Generation Flexible and Reconfigurable Spacecraft?<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Zeus motors replace legacy suborbital rocket motors in fit and form, while offering increased performance when incorporated with existing designs and infrastructure. This integration and increase in performance allow space and defense customers to fly farther, faster, and more often.<\/p>\n<p>L3Harris designed the motors in Huntsville, Alabama, to Kratos specifications and produces them at the company\u2019s nearly 2,000-acre energetics campus in Camden, Arkansas, where it makes more than 115,000 solid rocket motors a year \u2013 from the size that fits in the palm of a hand to the size of an SUV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L3Harris Technologies has received a letter of intent for a commercial contract to produce 60 Zeus hypersonic motors for Kratos Defense &amp; Security Solutions.
