Weather conditions around Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, had other plans in mind, however. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With roughly 15 minutes before liftoff, SpaceX scrubbed the May 27 launch out of an abundance of caution due to \u201ctoo much electricity in the atmosphere,\u201d as NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine put it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the anti-climatic end to a launch day that had the attention of the nation, SpaceX delaying the flight of NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station tested two challenges.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-1523\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we learned from scrub<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team at SpaceX and NASA completed what\u2019s considered a dry dress rehearsal last Saturday to practice all the motions of launch day procedures. The scrubbed launch went one step further by functioning as a wet dress rehearsal. <\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<script type=\"text\/plain\">\n\t\t\twindow.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tadSlotsConfig.push( {\n\t\t\t\tslotID: '\/1049447\/Outbrain',\n\t\t\t\tslotName: 'div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-1523',\n\t\t\t\tsizes: [300, 250],\n\t\t\t\tslotPosition: 'mid_article'\n\t\t\t} );\n\t\t<\/script><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wednesday\u2019s launch was scrubbed after astronauts Behnken and Hurley were already strapped in to the Crew Dragon spacecraft and the Falcon 9 rocket was fully fueled.
