It was established in 1958 and was formerly known as the Beijing Scientific Instrument Factory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The initial mission of the factory was to manufacture and repair scientific instruments and equipment, and then gradually shifted to the structural production, final assembly, inspection, testing and design of some products for artificial satellites and other space vehicles. <\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Main tasks<\/p>\n<p> Factory 529 is responsible for the R&#038;D and manufacturing tasks of related aerospace model structures, mechanisms, electronics, aerospace materials and other categories of products. It has completed the development, final assembly, integration and testing of mechanical, electronic and thermal control products for more than 400 satellites and spacecrafts, as well as launch site services. <\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Application cases<\/p>\n<p> From 1965 to 1970, Factory 529 completed all the development, production, assembly and testing of my country&#8217;s first artificial earth satellite, &#8220;Dongfanghong-1&#8221;. In addition, my country&#8217;s first returnable remote sensing satellite, first experimental communication satellite and first unmanned test spacecraft &#8220;Shenzhou-1&#8221; were also born in Factory 529. On June 2, 2024, the lightweight and high-strength &#8220;landing legs&#8221; and drilling subsystems developed by Factory 529 helped Chang&#8217;e-6 achieve a smooth and soft landing and successfully completed the world&#8217;s first back-of-the-lunar drilling and sampling mission; On June 25 of the same year, the Chang&#8217;e-6 returner returned home safely. The metal shell developed by Factory 529 has an extremely thin skin and requires higher contours and cabin flange dimensional accuracy. It is the most difficult cabin assembly processing to date. <\/p>\n<p>4<\/p>\n<p>Industrial Park<\/p>\n<p> Factory 529 has five industrial bases in Tangjialing, Zhongguancun, Sanhe, Huailai and Tianjin, and has built an industrial development model that integrates design planning, project implementation, production and processing, and support service capabilities. Among them, Zhongguancun Beijing Satellite Manufacturing Factory Science and Technology Park has introduced new-generation information technology, high-end intelligent manufacturing, commercial aerospace and other high-precision industries. <\/p>\n<p>5<\/p>\n<p>Wholly owned subsidiary<\/p>\n<p> Factory 529 currently has two wholly-owned subsidiaries. Among them, Xingda Technology was established in 1988 and focuses on R&#038;D and high-end equipment manufacturing in the field of aerospace technology applications; Xingchi Hengdong was established in 1995 and focuses on additive manufacturing technology, 3D printing technology, etc. On May 8, 2020, the return capsule of my country&#8217;s new-generation manned spacecraft test ship developed by the Fifth Academy successfully landed. The test ship carried more than 60 metal 3D printing products developed by Xingchi Perpetual. This is the seventh spacecraft model in which Xingchi Perpetual&#8217;s 3D printing technology has been successfully applied in orbit. It is also the first time that its 3D printing thermal control subsystem products have achieved on-orbit flight. <\/p>\n<p>6<\/p>\n<p>Entering commercial aerospace<\/p>\n<p> On September 22, 2024, China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Commercial Satellite Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of 1.2 billion and its registered address is Xiongan New District, Baoding City, Hebei Province. Factory 529, as the second largest shareholder, holds 39.5% of the shares. Factory 529 represents the Fifth Academy as the satellite supplier with the most advanced satellite development technology in my country.
