At present, although my country’s remote sensing satellite industry has made remarkable achievements, the dilemma of “big but not strong” still exists. In terms of policy, technology, industrial chain, products, commercialization and other levels, there are still many “stuck” pain points that restrict the development of the remote sensing satellite industry to a higher level. These pain points are interrelated and jointly affect the high-quality and efficient development of my country’s remote sensing satellite industry.<\/p>\n
1. Policy level<\/p>\n
At the policy level, the legal and regulatory system is not yet complete. Especially in key stages such as investment, construction and operation, there is a lack of systematic and complete legal system protection. Due to the lack of clear legal constraints, it is difficult to form fair market competition rules. In addition, satellite data commercial promotion policies and measures do not match market demand, resulting in a lack of user networks.<\/p>\n
2. Technical level<\/p>\n
At the technical level, the traditional “technology first” R&D model has led to a disconnect between innovation and the market, and many companies have blindly imitated and “gathered” in specific links, resulting in low-level duplication of construction. Although satellite constellations are being developed in various places, there is a phenomenon of “emphasis on construction and neglect of application”. The business logic and profit model are not yet mature, and the efficiency is not high. Moreover, remote sensing data sharing is difficult, and there is no data trading platform and environment, resulting in the inability to reflect the value of data.<\/p>\n
3. Industrial chain level<\/p>\n
At present, the industrial chain is in a “top-heavy” state. The entire industry is overly focused on “how to send satellites to the sky” and neglects “what the satellites can do after they are launched into the sky.” In addition, although the amount of data captured by remote sensing satellites has increased dramatically, the back-end data processing and intelligent interpretation capabilities have not kept pace, resulting in extremely low efficiency in information mining.<\/p>\n
4. Product level<\/p>\n
At the product level, there are insufficient global satellite data acquisition capabilities and low service timeliness. my country has few overseas measurement and control\/receiving ground station network resources, and the West has been frantically blocking the establishment and operation of my country’s overseas stations. In addition, our country lacks civilian relay satellites, and the data return efficiency of overseas observation missions is low, which affects the efficiency of satellite use.<\/p>\n
5. Commercialization level<\/p>\n
The development of my country’s remote sensing satellite industry needs to pay more attention to commercialization and marketization, realize the transformation from demonstration applications to main business services, and attract more investments and users through business model innovation. To attract investment and expand the user base, satellite services must truly “take root”, solve the actual pain points of traditional industries, and gradually get rid of the stage of relying solely on demonstration projects.
