French radio frequency (RF) detection specialist Unseenlabs has awarded GomSpace a \u20ac2.2 million (US$2.5 million) contract to build two additional cubesats, further expanding its space-based maritime surveillance constellation.<\/p>\n

The satellites will be manufactured using GomSpace\u2019s 8U cubesat platform and are scheduled for delivery in 2027.<\/p>\n

Constellation Expansion Continues<\/h2>\n

The latest order increases the total number of cubesats Unseenlabs has purchased from GomSpace to 16.<\/p>\n

The companies have collaborated on multiple satellite orders since 2022, with previous contracts signed in 2022, 2024, and 2025. <\/p>\n

The new satellites will strengthen Unseenlabs\u2019 growing radio frequency detection network, which is designed to locate vessels that cannot be tracked through conventional Automatic Identification System (AIS) transmissions.<\/p>\n

Supporting Maritime Surveillance<\/h2>\n

Unseenlabs operates a constellation dedicated to detecting radio frequency emissions from ships, enabling maritime authorities and commercial customers to monitor vessels even when AIS signals are unavailable or intentionally disabled.<\/p>\n

The company has launched 22 satellites to date, with its most recent spacecraft entering orbit aboard Japan\u2019s H3 launch vehicle in June.<\/p>\n

Unseenlabs is also preparing to deploy its next-generation Gen 2 satellites, which are expected to enhance RF signal detection performance while expanding monitoring capabilities beyond maritime surveillance to include land- and space-based applications.<\/p>\n
