Arianespace<\/strong> and BULL<\/strong>, in 2024, signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to collaborate on space debris mitigation, based on a common understanding of the importance of sustainability in space. Under the MOU, Arianespace and BULL performed a first step of a feasibility study to implement the HORN PMD (Post Mission Disposal) device, which is being developed by BULL, on the Ariane 6 DLS (Dual Launch System). The study showed that an installation of the HORN on the Ariane 6 DLS would be effective.<\/p>\n

Both parties will now collaborate on the next step, targeting a flight demonstration of the HORN on the Ariane 6 DLS. Available launch slots are being identified, starting from 2027. The HORN PMD is a very large deployable sail, developed by BULL, which accelerates the re-entry manoeuvre after the mission ends.<\/p>\n

Arianespace signed the Net Zero Space Initiative in 2021 and follows the French law on Space operations (FSOA). A proactive commitment to sustainable space has been a primary priority for the company. Collaboration with BULL will enable Ariane 6 to further contribute to meeting the target of sustainability, preventing the creation of space debris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
