The company claims it is now in the process of acquiring its own dedicated carrier aircraft for the system.<\/p>\n<p>LauncherOne:<\/p>\n<p>Virgin Galactic is continuing to rally from the SpaceShipTwo tragedy, with a new spacecraft now in production.<\/p>\n<p>The LauncherOne system was announced back in 2012, classed as an air-launch system that would utilize SpaceShipTwo\u2019s carrier plane \u201cWhiteKnightTwo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-25227\" title=\"Z4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nasaspaceflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Z412.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nasaspaceflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Z412.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.nasaspaceflight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Z412-263x175.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\">Virgin Galactic announced their air-launched rocket was specifically designed to deliver small satellites \u2013 a growing market \u2013 into orbit.<\/p>\n<p>LauncherOne was revealed as a two-stage vehicle capable of carrying up to 500 pounds (225 kilograms) to orbit for prices below $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>The rocket can be launched from a wide range of possible locations, tailored to individual mission requirements and weather conditions. The latest information cites \u201cLauncherOne will now be able to launch 200 kg into the standard Sun-Synchronous Orbit\u201d \u2013 which is most commonly desired by small satellite missions.<\/p>\n<p>This is what Virgin Galactic class as \u201ca marked increase from the system\u2019s originally projected performance to that orbit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company added that customers will also be able to purchase further increases in performance to the same orbit, as well as launches that reach other altitudes or inclinations. Whitesides at the annual World Business Satellite Week in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLauncherOne will be ready to meet the rapidly expanding needs of satellite startups, space agencies, and research institutions thanks to the investments we\u2019ve already made in our engines, tanks, avionics, and our production infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Virgin Galatic also added it is in the final stages of acquiring a commercial aircraft to add to its air-launch fleet, which includes WhiteKnightTwo, enabling both the increased payload capacity and significantly higher flight rate.
