However, other milestone elements are in play, such as payload operations and \u2018crew loading\u2019 \u2013 and notably issues with Atlantis and Endeavour over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The final launch date decision for STS-125 will&nbsp;ultimately be taken at the Agency Flight Readiness Review in late September.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The PRCB disapproved the launch date acceleration for STS-125 and STS-126,\u2019 noted information out of today\u2019s PRCB meeting.&nbsp;\u2018The STS-125 launch date remains 10\/08, STS-400 on 10\/15 and STS-126 on 11\/10.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p><b><i><u>Atlantis\/STS-125 Latest:<br \/><\/u><\/i><\/b><br \/>Atlantis has been enjoying a smooth flow of late, with the orbiter now placed on the OTS (Orbiter Transport System) ahead of Monday\u2019s scheduled rollover to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). <\/p>\n<p>However, Thursday processing information points to a potential issue with her Nose Landing Gear (NGL), during its retraction (raising) for the final time ahead of flight. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018During Landing Gear retract for flight NLG doors did not completely retract at HYD pressure of 3080 psi,\u2019 noted processing information. \u2018TPS (Thermal Protection System) push pad techs applied nominal pressure and doors did not retract. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018HYD ENG applied 3200 psi to vehicle and push pads were applied again (techs stated they pushed as hard as they could). NLG doors still did not close. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018No NLG uplock indication or NLG bungee arm indication (OFF). LEFT NLG door approx.&nbsp;One inch from full closed (aft and fwd edge). Engineering evaluation in work.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"170\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.nasaspaceflight.com\/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3993.0;attach=78738;image\" width=\"239\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\/\"><em><font color=\"#0033ff\">**New L2 Trailer Video, with examples of L2 content&nbsp;\u2013 <\/font><font color=\"#ff0000\">TRAILER NOW AVAILABLE \u2013 CLICK IMAGE**<\/font>. <font color=\"#0000ff\"><em>**Includes FIVE&nbsp;Stunning high quality&nbsp;2hr, 355-400mb Camcorder and HUD videos, with&nbsp;crew&nbsp;audio&nbsp;\u2013 from payload bay closure \u2013 through re-entry with an&nbsp;astronaut held camcorder video \u2013&nbsp;to post landing \u2013 several more videos showing landing from 90,000 ft also available and HUD videos from STA landings.<\/em><\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Engineers have started evaluation into the issue, which may not be significant, as&nbsp;the landing gear requires assistance during retraction \u2013 with its main role only relating to the ability to lower and lock into place, just ahead of landing.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: Resolution close \u2013 new article will follow<\/p>\n<p>The only other outstanding issues relate to a tile on the upper body flap of Atlantis, which will be replaced on Friday, and the confirmation that the \u2018Loads Panel\u2019 review on a measurement spec relating to the area where the blankets meet the tiles on the OMS (Orbital Maneuvering System) pods \u2013 known as the \u2018step\u2019 \u2013 has been cleared for flight.<\/p>\n<p>Work on mating operations between ET-127 and the twin Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs) is continuing with closeouts, and remains on schedule for Monday\u2019s arrival of Atlantis, pending the resolution of the NLG issue.<\/p>\n<p><em>L2 Members: Refer to TAG keywords \u2018STS-125\u2019 for daily processing updates, baselines and presentations, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b><i><u>Endeavour\/STS-400\/126 Latest:<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A new problem has been found with Endeavour during the processing flow inside her Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF-2), which relates to a bent line in the Fuel Cell 3 coolant drain line system.<\/p>\n<p>An engineering evaluation is taking place on the bent line, which may have to be replaced \u2013 which is a complex task, especially with the orbiter in the midst of closeouts ahead of her STS-400 LON (Launch On Need) support of Atlantis\u2019 STS-125.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"175\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.nasaspaceflight.com\/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3744.0;attach=93291;image\" width=\"254\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\/\">\u2018During Bay 3 Closeout Inspections, NASA Quality noticed a bent line. This line is part of the Fuel Cell 3 coolant drain line, and seems to have a noticeable crease in the line,\u2019 added Thursday processing information.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018An MR (Material Review) already existed on the line from Palmdale, but specifically stated there was no kink, crease, or wrinkle in the line, so the MR will not be used. Engineering evaluation in work.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Should engineers decide to replace the line, the process would involve a dump of the coolant loop, before cutting out the bent line. A new line would then have to be welded into place.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: R&amp;R had been decided on \u2013 new article on proceess pending.<\/p>\n<p>Pending evaluations into the bent line, scheduled processing is continuing, with midbody inspections for rollout and radiator cleaning scheduled to completed today, along with the final Ku-Band antenna&nbsp;stow and Payload Bay Door closure on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Friday will also see the O2 system 2 supply valve opened on Endeavour, in order to check an issue noted as off-nominal Pressure Transducer characteristics with the system.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018During performance of the O2 System Decay checks, the System 2 O2 900 psi pressure transducer (P9) took approximately 20 minutes to vent to ambient (nominal is less than 1 minutes),\u2019 noted processing information on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Initial troubleshooting indicates that the crossover valve is not leaking in the closed position and was unable to recreate the problem. During further testing the valve and pressure transducer performed nominally. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018The next step is to open O2 System 2 crossover valve prior to vehicle power down today. Following power-up on Friday, the O2 system 2 supply valve will be opened and the pressure transducer will be observed for duplication of the initial problem.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><em>L2 Members: Refer to TAG keywords \u2018STS-400\u2019 and&nbsp;\u2018STS-126\u2019 for daily processing updates, baselines and presentations, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b><i><u>ET-129 \u2018Noise\u2019 Evaluation Latest:<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In High Bay 2 of the VAB, a plan has been drawn up into checking the inside of ET-129, following the observation of a metallic noise coming from within the tank during its transition from the horizontal to the vertical via the VAB crane.<\/p>\n<p>No obvious explanation for the noise has been found, leading to a requirement to carry out X-rays and borescope inspections on the tank.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018External Tank: ET-129 (VAB HB-2E) Noise heard during ET lifting, update: External inspections of the tank continue with nothing noted to explain the noise. Statements have been obtained from personnel supporting the lifting operation and the fault tree has been further analyzed,\u2019 noted a Thursday update from the VAB.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Moving forward the plan is to: Perform X-rays at the GO2 and GH2 pressurization lines and LOX feedline at strategic points \u2013 possibly tonight and\/or Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Perform a visual inspection at the base of the LOX feedline through the umbilical \u2013 Monday morning \u2013 post-LOX tank depressurization.
