STS-122&nbsp;to STS-127&nbsp;documentation already available.<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\"><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\"><em>STS-120 L2 Special&nbsp;includes over 1000mb of presentations, over 45 Flight Data Files, Manuals,&nbsp;Memos&nbsp;and Exclusive Hi Res Images&nbsp;and video \u2013 the most expansive overview of the mission.&nbsp;<\/em><\/font><em><font color=\"#0033ff\">**Click&nbsp;here for sample**<\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><font color=\"#ff0000\" size=\"3\">L2 FLIGHT DAY LIVE: MER\/MOD\/MMT Live Updates (live console updates, live MMT presentations, for every flight day)<\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\" size=\"3\"><em>**LIVE updates on Discovery&nbsp;STS-120 FLIGHT DAY 3**<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<p><em><u>Article:<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"125\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.nasaspaceflight.com\/forums\/get-attachment.asp?action=view&amp;attachmentid=9361\" width=\"125\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\/\"><\/p>\n<p><em><u>RPM:<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The RPM allows the ISS crew to perform a high resolution photo survey of the lower surface thermal protection system (TPS) tiles to screen for ascent debris damage.<\/p>\n<p>The nine minute maneuver was debuted on STS-114\u2019s Return To Flight mission, following months of planning by shuttle experts at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). <\/p>\n<p>They were tasked with the limitations on crew and sensor visibility, maneuvers conducted about an unstable orbital stationkeeping position, inherently unstable attitude dynamics, thruster plume impingement on the ISS, shuttle propellant limitations, and a very tight set of lighting and geometry constraints for the inspection photography.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Clay&nbsp;Anderson and Yuri&nbsp;Malenchenko&nbsp;successfully completed a standard 30-min Shuttle RPM skill training exercise, ahead of the arrival of Discovery. <\/p>\n<p>ISS crewmembers&nbsp;used their DCS-760 digital still cameras with 400 and 800mm lenses at SM windows 6 and 8 to take target imagery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"155\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.nasaspaceflight.com\/forums\/get-attachment.asp?action=view&amp;attachmentid=32632\" width=\"228\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\/\">The RPM photography will allow technicians on the ground to take a detailed look at Discovery\u2019s TPS, with only one Protruding Gap Filler at Panel 20R, showing up, following Flight Day 2\u2019s inspections. This process of checking the RPM images will take a couple of days.<\/p>\n<p>The opening RPM images have already been acquired by this site\u2019s L2 section, showing several areas of Discovery in high resolution. No damage is obvious on the images, which include the LH2 umbilical door area. (Cropped sample&nbsp;of the door).<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Discovery\u2019s \u2018funnies\u2019 (issues)<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hardly any, with Discovery performing like the veteran orbiter she is. A grand total of five \u2018funnies\u2019 are listed, one of which being the ice found pre-launch \u2013 subsequently falling off at SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engine) ignition. The other related to SSME 1 \u2013 which had a LO2 Inlet Temp Erratic reading \u2013 though this did not cause any issues during ascent.<\/p>\n<p>The other three issues relate to a laptop connection issue, a slight blip with the Star Tracker and a positional error that was noted with the OBSS (Orbiter Boom Sensor System) grapple position, none of which are a problem for the mission.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018WIS GFE Laptop Local Timeouts. MER-04 RMS OBSS Grapple Position Delta from Expected. Y Star Tracker Transient BITE,\u2019 noted the Mission Management Team (MMT) overview for the mission thus far. \u2018All other systems operating nominally.\u2019<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"139\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.nasaspaceflight.com\/forums\/get-attachment.asp?action=view&amp;attachmentid=32503\" width=\"183\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\/\">\u2018When the OBSS was grappled by the SRMS the POR position was different than expected: <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\">Y delta&nbsp;\u2013 3 inches. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\">Z delta&nbsp;\u2013 1 inch. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\" size=\"5\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Note: OBSS Grapple position was nominal for last flight of OV-103,\u2019 added another MMT presentation.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\"><br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\"><\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\">\u2018Potential Causes: <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">MPM deploy \u2013 <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Mech reports deploy was nominal. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Arm S\/N 202 Joint biases \u2013 <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Joint angles were nominal when SRMS was cradled. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">IBA S\/N 203 (first flight)&nbsp;\u2013 <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">EFGF on forward transition could be cause. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Thermal deflections&nbsp;\u2013 being discussed.<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">\u2018Impacts: <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">only impacts OBSS ops. <\/font><font face=\"Arial-BoldMT\" size=\"5\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">OBSS Sensor team assessing impact to TPS inspection coverage.\u2019<\/font><\/p>\n<p>Also noted by the MMT are the latest readings from the sensors on Discovery\u2019s wing leading edges, which have only registered two minor readings \u2013 during ascent \u2013 both well below any cause for a closer evaluation at this stage.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em><u><font size=\"2\">Debris\/Foam Loss Update:<\/font><\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">As revealed by this site on Wednesday, the main foam loss wasn\u2019t mentioned at the post MMT press briefing, but is internally classed as the biggest foam loss event during the ascent of Discovery on Tuesday.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\"><br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Information points to the foam \u2018popcorning\u2019 off the LO2 Ice Frost Ramp (IFR) at the top of the tank, rather than liberating in one piece. There is no information that points to it then hitting the orbiter.<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\"><\/font><font face=\"Arial, sans-serif\"><\/font><font style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt\">\u2018<\/font><font size=\"2\">ET TPS Loss IFR 593: <\/font><font face=\"Arial, sans-serif\"><\/font><font style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt\"><\/font><font size=\"2\">Missing TPS was noted at IFR 593.<\/font> Preliminary assessment by ET is heavy popcorning or erosion\/recession,\u2019 noted NASA information.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">Interestingly, images of ET-120 in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) show the foam in question to have a white patch at the top of the IFR.
