{"id":42077,"date":"2006-05-02T18:43:58","date_gmt":"2006-05-02T10:43:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/sea-launch-wins-intelsat-contract\/"},"modified":"2006-05-02T18:43:58","modified_gmt":"2006-05-02T10:43:58","slug":"sea-launch-wins-intelsat-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/sea-launch-wins-intelsat-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea Launch wins Intelsat contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sea Launch have earned the launch contract to carry the Intelsat Americas-9 (IA-9) spacecraft into orbit, following a successful debut with the satellite communication giants last year.  <\/p>\n<p>  The Boeing-owned launch service successfully carried out the start of the IA-8 mission in 2005 \u2013 and will carry out the launch of the IA-9 in late 2007.\n<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><font color=\"#ff0000\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/logo2_1bk.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" width=\"182\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/em><\/font>Live Work In Progress information and documents \u2013 Join L2.<font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><em><\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/font><\/font>The IA-9 \u2013 a high-power, C-band and Ku-band satellite \u2013 is currently under construction at Space Systems\/Loral (SS\/L) in Palo Alto, California.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018We are proud to welcome back Intelsat for another Sea Launch mission,\u2019 said Rob Peckham, interim president and general manager of Sea Launch. \u2018We view this new contract as a testament to Intelsat\u2019s confidence in our launch system and our team. We won\u2019t let them down.\u2019<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">  <\/p>\n<p><em><font color=\"#ff0000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/AdBanners\/storelogo3.jpg\" width=\"182\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The IA-9 spacecraft will provide communications service to North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Intelsat currently plans to operate the satellite from an orbital location at 97 degrees West longitude. IA-9 will become Intelsat\u2019s newest satellite covering North America.<\/p>\n<p><\/font>  <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The satellite\u2019s hybrid C- and Ku-band communications payload carries a total of 44 operating transponders, selectable among 62 discrete frequencies, providing a total of 1,944 MHz of downlink capacity. <\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"40\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tqlkg.com\/image-1911168-10410772\" width=\"150\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font>Coverage areas are provided by fixed C- and Ku-band antennas, in addition to an adjustable Ku-band spot beam that can be positioned anywhere on the earth\u2019s surface visible from the satellite\u2019s orbital position. <\/p>\n<p>The satellite is designed to operate from any of Intelsat\u2019s orbital locations from 77 degrees West longitude to 129 degrees West longitude.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The satellite is scheduled for delivery to Intelsat in 2007 and has a design life of 13 years.
