The tank is set to fly with Atlantis on STS-115 (STS-300).  <\/p>\n<p>  Meanwhile, ET-123, which will fly with Discovery on STS-116, is undergoing its final stages of retrofitting, following its role as a test article.\n<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/logo2_1bk.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" width=\"182\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><em><font color=\"#ff0000\">Click the image for breaking news, documents, insider news, the second it arrives from sources,&nbsp;live to your inbox.<\/font><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On March 15, ET-118 was moved by Transportation and Handling crews into Building 420, Cell 2, following good progress during its retrofitting in Final Assembly.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Bonding of the Developmental Flight Instrumentation (DFI) cable tray accelerometers has been completed for both the Liquid Oxygen Tank and Liquid Hydrogen Tank. <\/p>\n<p>These instruments will fly for the first time on ET-118, given ET-119 \u2013 which will fly with Discovery on STS-121 this summer \u2013 was shipped to KSC before the additions could be made. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018DFI will provide flight load data from the cable tray during ascent,\u2019 said James Moffett, senior manager of Mechanical Assembly at MAF.<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lduhtrp.net\/image-1911168-10415279\" width=\"120\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"10\" src=\"http:\/\/www.awltovhc.com\/image-1911168-10419894\" width=\"120\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"10\" border=\"0\"><br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<em><u>LIVE&nbsp;UPDATE PAGES<br \/><\/u><\/em><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<p>Thermal Protection Systems spraying and trimming will continue on ET-118\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s longerons, which are attachment points for the thrust struts. Technicians also will continue installing the drip lip to reduce ice formation on the bellows. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The work is verified in part through the dissection of a mock-up panel and plug pull activities that are ongoing. Other spare ET parts being used for testing have come from ET-120, which was sent back to MAF, following two tanking tests with STS-114 \u2013 both of which showed anomalies during propellant loading.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">ET-123 moved into Cell A of the Vertical Assembly Building (VAB) for flange retrofitting last month. The cell had been empty since ET-122 was removed following roof damage during Hurricane Katrina. Currently, technicians are removing foam from around the flange.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/AdBanners\/storelogo3.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" width=\"182\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font><\/p>\n<p>     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018Bolts that join the LH2\/Intertank flange together are being changed out and reversed, and much of that work has been completed,\u2019 added Moffett. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018Technicians will then apply a sealant on the bolts to eliminate any liquid nitrogen leak path. Finally, technicians will spray\/inject a foam application around the bolts technicians will vent other areas of the Intertank foam. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018These combined steps help reduce both the probability and size of any potential foam loss.\u2019 <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"141\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.countdowncreations.com\/images\/shuttle_25th_t.jpg\" width=\"125\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\">ET-123 is scheduled to move from Cell A to Final Assembly on May 12 and later go to Building 420 prior to shipment to KSC.<\/p>\n<p><em><font color=\"#ff0000\">Space Shuttle 25th Anniversary T-Shirt.
