{"id":42103,"date":"2006-04-06T19:24:06","date_gmt":"2006-04-06T11:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/breeze-m-commission-may-delay-launches\/"},"modified":"2006-04-06T19:24:06","modified_gmt":"2006-04-06T11:24:06","slug":"breeze-m-commission-may-delay-launches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/breeze-m-commission-may-delay-launches\/","title":{"rendered":"Breeze-M Commission may delay launches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Russian State Failure Commission, formed to investigate the anomaly that occurred during the February 28 launch of the Proton\/Breeze M with the Arabsat 4A satellite, will meet again on April 10.  <\/p>\n<p>  However, preliminary results are pointing towards a delay of several months, required to carry out corrective work on the Breeze M (Briz M) upper stage \u2013 cancelling the May 17th launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome of the Hot Bird 8 satellite.<br \/>\n<font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">  <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"125\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lduhtrp.net\/image-1911168-6300915\" width=\"125\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">  <\/p>\n<p>Latest reports note that the investigation has focused on a technical defect in the Breeze M\u2019s C5.98 engine unit, which may have&nbsp;led to the destruction of the turbine pump and the ending of the powered flight of the vehicle a full 200 seconds too early in its second burn of 1851 seconds. <\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The premature end to the flight saw the ArabSat 4A only reach a 14,700km apogee and 507.8km perigee orbit \u2013 when it required a geo-transfer orbit. <\/p>\n<p>It was hoped that engineers could send the satellite on a slingshot trip around the moon to achieve a working orbit, but that mission ended in failure.<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lduhtrp.net\/image-1911168-10415279\" width=\"120\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/font><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"60\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"10\" src=\"http:\/\/www.awltovhc.com\/image-1911168-10419894\" width=\"120\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"10\" border=\"0\"><br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <em><u>LIVE EVENT&nbsp;LAUNCH PAGES<br \/><\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The launch was overseen by ILS (International Launch Services), who have formed a Failure Review Oversight Board, led by Eric Laursen, the vice president of ILS and their chief engineer. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The satellite was built by EADS for Saudi-based ArabSat, and was designed to transmit television programmes to the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/logo2_1bk.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" width=\"182\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\">Hot Bird 8 \u2013 the largest satellite built by Eutelsat for its customer EADS ASTRIUM \u2013 could be pushed down the schedule to the end of this year, or move to a launch via Arianespace\u2019s Ariane 5 launcher, which recently launched one of the earlier range, the Hot Bird 7A.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Hot Bird 8 is important to its customer, given its mission to replace existing HOT BIRD capacity, joining HOT BIRD 7A, 13 degrees East. <\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>The satellite has been designed to cover all 102 Ku-band transponders\/frequencies at 13 degrees East which means that it can substitute any transponder on the other HOT BIRD satellites.<\/p>\n<p>  Technology News<path d=\"M7.59009 18.59L9.00009 20L17.0001 12L9.00009 4L7.59009 5.41L14.1701 12\" style=\"animation: initial !important;
