{"id":42143,"date":"2006-02-22T22:00:19","date_gmt":"2006-02-22T14:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/lockheed-arrange-florida-cev-deal\/"},"modified":"2006-02-22T22:00:19","modified_gmt":"2006-02-22T14:00:19","slug":"lockheed-arrange-florida-cev-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/lockheed-arrange-florida-cev-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Lockheed arrange Florida CEV deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lockheed Martin has announced, that in partnership with the State of Florida, its plans to locate final assembly and testing of the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) in Florida.  <\/p>\n<p>  The deal is subject to the corporation being successful in its bid to provide the next generation crew transportation system for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).\n<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"90\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/content.nasaspaceflight.com\/library\/1016\/AdBanners\/logo2_1bk.jpg\" width=\"182\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\" size=\"3\">SPACEFLIGHT L2 \u2013 <em>Starts Thursday<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are extremely pleased and proud to partner with the State of Florida in support of NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s CEV program.&nbsp; The point of final assembly and testing for each mission will be critical to the viability of NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s CEV program and the ideal location to do that is here in Florida adjacent to the launch site,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said John Karas, vice president of space exploration for Lockheed Martin.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Florida has an extremely talented existing workforce with the skills, experience, dedication and track record to meet the challenges and requirements of NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s human spaceflight program.&nbsp; <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u2018They also have facilities that can support the highly specialized work that the new Crew Exploration Vehicle will require.&nbsp; And co-location here in Florida with NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s launch operations offers the greatest value at an overall affordable cost that is essential to the long-term success, safety, reliability and sustainability of NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s CEV program,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d added Karas.<\/p>\n<p><\/font><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">In support of the State of Florida\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s extensive heritage in NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s space flight endeavors and the state\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s strong interest in maintaining a key role in NASA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s CEV program, Governor Jeb Bush has proposed incentives valued at $45.5 million for the CEV program to cover training, transportation infrastructure, facility improvements and equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153On behalf of the State of Florida, I am very pleased that Lockheed Martin has recognized our strong commitment to maintaining our space industry legacy,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Lt.
