{"id":42145,"date":"2006-02-21T01:11:27","date_gmt":"2006-02-20T17:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/japans-astro-f-launches\/"},"modified":"2006-02-21T01:11:27","modified_gmt":"2006-02-20T17:11:27","slug":"japans-astro-f-launches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/japans-astro-f-launches\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan\u2019s ASTRO-F launches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Japanese space agency JAXA have launched their M-V Launch Vehicle (Flight #8) with the infrared astronomy satellite ASTRO-F, from the Uchinoura Space Center tonight.  <\/p>\n<p>  JAXA had a successful launch at 21:28 UTC (4:28pm Eastern US), following yesterday\u2019s scrub with just 15 minutes remaining in the count, due to rain over the space center.\n<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Live webcast link, click image:<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"78\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/jaxa.tv\/IMG\/bn_astroflive.gif\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" width=\"500\" align=\"top\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;successful launch makes&nbsp;it two launches in just over three days for JAXA, hot on the heels of Saturday\u2019s H-IIA Launch Vehicle (H-IIA F9) from the Tanegashima Space Center, taking the Multi-functional Transport Satellite 2 (MTSAT-2) into a geostationary orbit.<\/p>\n<p>Launch preview:<\/p>\n<p>ASTRO-F has a 70 cm telescope,which is cooled down to -270 degree with liquid helium in order to suppress unwanted infrared radiation from the telescope itself.&nbsp;The spacecraft will be entered into a polar orbit along the twilight zone. <\/font><\/p>\n<p>  <!--StartFragment --><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Previously known as IRIS (InfraRed Imaging Surveyor), this&nbsp;will be&nbsp;the second space mission for infrared astronomy in Japan.
