{"id":4228,"date":"2013-12-09T12:34:22","date_gmt":"2013-12-09T12:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/change-3-enters-lunar-orbit\/"},"modified":"2013-12-09T12:34:22","modified_gmt":"2013-12-09T12:34:22","slug":"change-3-enters-lunar-orbit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/change-3-enters-lunar-orbit\/","title":{"rendered":"Chang&#8217;e-3 Enters Lunar Orbit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 1em\">BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) &#8212; China&#8217;s Chang&#8217;e-3 probe entered a circular lunar orbit at 5:53 p.m. Friday Beijing Time, after about 112 hours on a Earth-Moon transfer orbit, the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC) said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 1em\">The probe entered the lunar orbit after 361 seconds of precise braking by the variable thrust engine, following orders by engineers with BACC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 1em\">The center later verified that Chang&#8217;e-3 had entered the 100 km-high lunar circular orbit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 1em\">The braking was important otherwise Chang&#8217;e-3 would have escapes from the Moon, or crashed into it, said BACC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 1em\">The probe was launched at 1:30 a.m. Monday from southwest China&#8217;s Xichang Satellite Center.
