STS-114 came to an end through the nerve wracking re-entry and landing in the dark of the Californian desert.\n<\/p>\n
Discovery swooped into the air base in the Mojave Desert at 3:11pm UK and landed on the Edwards runway to complete a 14 day mission \u2013 classed as a test flight.<\/font><\/p>\n Discovery was forced to land in California after poor weather once again called off attempts to land at the primary landing site at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.<\/font><\/p>\n \u201cCongratulations on a truly spectacular test flight,\u201d Mission Control said once Discovery came to a stop. \u201cWelcome home, friends.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re happy to be back and we congratulate the whole team for a job well done,\u201d Commander Eileen Collins replied.<\/font><\/p>\n Following a long wait for workers to safe the vehicle, Collins and her crew emerged to be greeted by officials.
