{"id":42338,"date":"2005-07-26T20:16:21","date_gmt":"2005-07-26T12:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/ecos-pass-first-two-tests\/"},"modified":"2005-07-26T20:16:21","modified_gmt":"2005-07-26T12:16:21","slug":"ecos-pass-first-two-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/ecos-pass-first-two-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"ECOs pass first two tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Space Shuttle Discovery appears to have so far jumped the hurdle that caused a launch scrub on July 13, as all four Engine Cut Out (ECO) sensors passed testing during the start of propellant loading into the External Tank (ET) in the early hours of Tuesday morning.   <\/p>\n<p>  Discovery is due to launch at 10:39am EDT (3:39pm UK time) with even the weather improving chances of launch to 80 percent.<br \/>\n<font face=\"Arial\">  <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Several factors remain, with the all important T-9 minutes hold a crucial time for the Shuttle \u2013 as she checks over all her systems ahead of the first launch in two and a half years.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"> <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">However, the ECO issue \u2013 where LH2 sensor 2 failed to correctly tell Discovery what its status was \u2013 appears to have been solved by grounding work (to protect against Electromagnetic interference) and creative wiring.<\/font><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"> <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u201cWell, it appears that the ECOs are working fine,\u201d said a source this morning. \u201cA couple minutes after we had ALL eight ECOs go wet (in both tanks) they turned on the SIM circuit, so that all eight ECOs indicated DRY. This is exactly what we wanted to see, and it also indicates that they\u2019ve fixed the problem. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u201cAs we thought, it was probably the wiring in the Orbiter (what was in there before was out-of-spec as far as grounding\/shielding).
