The first one is the James Webb telescope who\u2019s now orbiting beyond the moon to discover, image, and study exoplanets and other types of space phenomenons. The other one is the DART mission (Double Asteroid Redirection Test). The goal was to determine if a human-made satellite could change the orbit of an asteroid. And in doing so, see if humanity would be able to divert an asteroid coming directly toward earth, and from the early results, it is a complete success!<br \/>\nScience space missions are always exciting to follow, we will see what NASA plans to work on in the future!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"europa-clipper\"><strong>Europa Clipper<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Europa Clipper spacecraft aims to study Jupiter&#8217;s moon Europa and investigate whether the icy moon could harbor conditions suitable for life. The spacecraft will be injected into an elliptical orbit around Jupiter and make 44 close flybys of Europa. The mission is scheduled to launch in October 2024 aboard a Falcon Heavy built by SpaceX. For more information, you can visit NASA\u2019s website about Europa Clipper<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/YFeDE2P.png\" alt=\"Europa Clipper spacecraft\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"psyche\"><strong>Psyche<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Psyche is a planned orbiter mission that will explore a unique metal-rich asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter that is supposed to be the core of an early planet. Some of the mission\u2019s goals are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand a previously unexplored building block of planet formation: iron cores.<\/li>\n<li>Look inside terrestrial planets, including Earth, by directly examining the interior of a differentiated body, which otherwise could not be seen.<\/li>\n<li>Explore a new type of world, made of metal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As of now, the Psyche spacecraft is planned to launch aboard a Falcon Heavy in October 2023<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"3A4evyH.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-saas-app.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com\/blog\/clmtgbkgc0002mb0fjlbj47hr\/lmtgef67.jpg\" alt=\"3A4evyH.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"veritas\"><strong>Veritas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>VERITAS, short for Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography, and Spectroscopy is an upcoming mission to map the surface of planet Venus in high resolution. It will answer important questions such as, How did Venus become a sulfurous inferno, while Earth, evolved to become the only one known to harbor life?<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the scientific objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What are the composition and origin of the major geologic terrains on Venus?<\/li>\n<li>Is volcanism there steady or catastrophic?<\/li>\n<li>Are Venus\u2019 plateaus like Earth\u2019s continents?<\/li>\n<li>Is there water deep in the interior of Venus, and does it reach the atmosphere via volcanism?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The VERITAS mission is scheduled to launch in 2031<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/ZBoXj4d.png\" alt=\"VERITAS spacecraft\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"nancy-grace-roman-space-telescope\"><strong>Nancy grace roman Space telescope<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, formerly the Wide Field InfraRed Survey Telescope (WFIRST) has several objectives. The search for planets using gravitational microlensing, to measure the effect of dark energy, the consistency of general relativity, and the curvature of spacetime.<\/p>\n<p>The telescope\u2019s destination is the Lagrange point L2, the same as the James Webb telescope It will carry the Wide Field Instrument that will have a field of view 100 times greater than the Hubble infrared instrument.<\/p>\n<p>It should launch in late 2026 or early 2027 aboard a Falcon Heavy<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/zgrwv2n.png\" alt=\"Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"near-earth-object-surveyor\"><strong>Near earth object surveyor<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Near-Earth Object Surveyor space telescope (NEO Surveyor) is designed to survey the Solar System for potentially hazardous asteroids and comets. It will help detect a real threat that an asteroid larger than 140m could pose to humanity, and allow us to send a mission to divert it, if detected soon enough, using the same technique as the DART mission we\u2019ve seen in 2022.<br \/>\nAnother scientific goal is to detect and characterize approximately one million asteroids in the asteroid belt and thousands of comets.<br \/>\nThe launch of the NEO surveyor is scheduled for 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/7XoLOcV.png\" alt=\"Near-Earth Object Surveyor space telescope\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2022 we\u2019ve seen two major science missions conducted by NASA and its partners.
