Good morning. It\u2019s January 23, and today\u2019s image showcases the night sky as seen from the Southern Hemisphere. It\u2019s a simple image of the Milky Way from a mobile phone, but it manages to capture so much grandeur.<\/p>\n
Erin Mikan said she was inspired to send in this photo after our recent image from Playa Grande, Mexico, showcasing the Milky Way Galaxy above a bioluminescent bay.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis image was taken in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales in Australia between Sydney and Canberra,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was taken using my mobile phone, a Google Pixel 7 Pro, in September 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n
I\u2019d say that\u2019s quite a night sky you\u2019ve got there Down Under, Erin.<\/p>\n
Now some readers of the Daily Telescope may be saying, \u201cEric, you sure are biased toward the Milky Way Galaxy.\u201d The Milky Way has now appeared in something like half a dozen featured photos. And you know what, you\u2019re correct! I am biased toward the Milky Way because it\u2019s the best one. My kids live here.<\/p>\n
