There is a little too much darkness in this world and not enough light, a little too much pseudoscience and not enough science. We&#8217;ll let other publications offer you a daily horoscope. At Ars Technica, we&#8217;re going to take a different route, finding inspiration from very real images of a universe that is filled with stars and wonder.<\/p>\n<p>Good morning. It\u2019s November 17, and today\u2019s photo takes us into the Cassiopeia constellation, where we find the Heart Nebula 7,500 light-years away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">This is a fairly bright nebula, discovered nearly 240 years ago by astronomer William Herschel. Because of its brilliant colors, the Heart Nebula is an attractive target for amateur astronomers.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s photo, Kyle Cauwels has zoomed in on the central feature of the nebula. \u201cThe star cluster in the center of the image is named Melotte 15 and is sometimes referred to as the \u2018Heart of the Heart Nebula,\u2019 he told me. \u201cThat region of nebulosity is definitely my favorite part.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A few of the brightest stars in the central part of the image are 50 times brighter than our own Sun.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As this is a Friday, we\u2019ll see you in a couple days.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Kyle Cauwels.<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to submit a photo for the Daily Telescope?&nbsp;Reach out and say hello.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to the Daily Telescope.
