{"id":46706,"date":"2026-07-16T23:25:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/viasat-demonstrates-automotive-voice-call-in-bmw-platform\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T23:25:59","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:25:59","slug":"viasat-demonstrates-automotive-voice-call-in-bmw-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/viasat-demonstrates-automotive-voice-call-in-bmw-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Viasat Demonstrates Automotive Voice Call in BMW Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent demonstration during a <b>5G Automotive Association<\/b> event, <b>Viasat<\/b> demonstrated a satellite voice call fully integrated into the infotainment system of a <b>BMW Group<\/b> vehicle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The demonstration in Munich, Germany, used <b>Qualcomm Technologies<\/b>\u2019 Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem-RF Gen 2 solution, and the <b>Fraunhofer <\/b>IIS NESC AI voice codec to compress the data in order to transmit in narrowband IoT, low data rate over Viasat\u2019s mobile satellite service (MSS) network.<\/p>\n<p>This builds off of a voice call demonstration earlier this year with Cubic\u00b3 eSIM capabilities. However, Viasat said this was the first time this technology was integrated into BMW Group\u2019s in-vehicle infotainment platform. This integration allows voice calls to be initiated and managed directly through the vehicle interface.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Viasat is one of the satellite companies that has been working with 5GAA group for some time to incorporate non-terrestrial network (NTN) communications into the connected vehicle ecosystem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis demonstration reflects broader industry excitement to ensure consistent, resilient satellite capabilities for next-generation vehicles.
