{"id":47207,"date":"2026-04-09T22:48:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T14:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/space-force-awards-14-companies-space-domain-awareness-contracts-under-andromeda\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T22:48:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T14:48:44","slug":"space-force-awards-14-companies-space-domain-awareness-contracts-under-andromeda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/space-force-awards-14-companies-space-domain-awareness-contracts-under-andromeda\/","title":{"rendered":"Space Force Awards 14 Companies Space Domain Awareness Contracts Under \u201cAndromeda\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><strong>U.S. Space Force<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Space Systems Command<\/strong> (SSC) said on Wednesday that it has awarded 14 companies more than $1.8 billion in firm fixed price \u201cAndromeda\u201d contracts for the Geosynchronous Reconnaissance &amp; Surveillance Constellation (RG-XX) satellites, which are to be a successor to the&nbsp;<strong>Northrop Grumman<\/strong>-built Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP)<\/p>\n<p>The companies include&nbsp;<strong>Anduril Industries<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Lockheed Martin<\/strong>; <strong>Boeing<\/strong>\u2018s&nbsp;<strong>Millenium Space Systems<\/strong>; Northrop Grumman; <strong>L3Harris Technologies<\/strong>; <strong>BAE Systems<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>Sierra Space<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>Redwire<\/strong>; <strong>General Atomics<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>Astranis Space Technologies Corp.<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>True Anomaly<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>Turion Space<\/strong>;&nbsp;<strong>Intuitive Machines LLC<\/strong>; and&nbsp;<strong>Quantum Space LLC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis contract provides for the procurement of space-based space domain awareness capability,\u201d the Defense Department said. \u201cWork will be performed at various vendor facilities as indicated above and is expected to be completed by April 8, 2036. These contracts were competitive acquisitions and 32 offers were received.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Five GSSAP satellites maneuver to conduct rendezvous and proximity operations to monitor and inspect other satellites, and the RG-XX constellation may be significantly larger.<\/p>\n<p>SSC has said that it views the trimming of requirements in RG-XX and the incorporation of commercial technology as a guide for future acquisitions.<\/p>\n<p>Under the RG-XX commercial approach, Space Force operators would be \u201caccomplishing the same GSSAP mission\u201d and \u201cusing the same GSSAP system with the same ground systems and data they do now, but these would be using faster, cheaper commercial build times and less expensive parts in order to bring that together faster,\u201d Space Force Maj. Gen.
