{"id":47233,"date":"2026-04-07T20:04:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T12:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/on-orbit-services-startup-starfish-space-raises-110m-to-execute-missions-boost-production\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T20:04:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T12:04:28","slug":"on-orbit-services-startup-starfish-space-raises-110m-to-execute-missions-boost-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/on-orbit-services-startup-starfish-space-raises-110m-to-execute-missions-boost-production\/","title":{"rendered":"On-Orbit Services Startup Starfish Space Raises $110M to Execute Missions, Boost Production"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starfish Space<\/strong>&nbsp;on Tuesday said it has raised about $110 million in a Series B round that will be used to execute orbital servicing missions already on contract, boost production of its Otter service spacecraft and add employees.<\/p>\n<p>The investment was led by&nbsp;<strong>Point72 Ventures<\/strong>&nbsp;and brings the total raised so far to more than $150 million by the Washington-based company.<\/p>\n<p>After conducting three successful demonstration missions in orbit, Starfish will be launching its first operational Otter mission this year.<\/p>\n<p>The company has announced five Otter customers so far, including Luxembourg\u2019s&nbsp;SES, NASA, two for the Space Force\u2019s Space Systems Command, and one for the Space Force\u2019s Space Development Agency (SDA). The SDA award is the company\u2019s first for a deorbiting operation.<\/p>\n<p>The company will also be building and flying more Otters for other customers, Austin Link, co-founder of Starfish, told&nbsp;<em>Defense Daily<\/em>&nbsp;in an email reply to questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our perspective, Starfish has made steady progress toward practical on-orbit servicing,\u201d Chris Morales, partner at Point72, said in a statement. \u201cWe believe their early traction with defense and commercial customers and successful autonomous missions show these capabilities are becoming increasingly relevant to space operations and national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Otter is designed to autonomously dock with and maneuver national security and other satellites, enabling dynamic space operations, life extension missions and disposal services.<\/p>\n<p>The funding round was co-led by&nbsp;Activate Capital&nbsp;and&nbsp;Shield Capital. Additional major participants included&nbsp;Industrious Ventures&nbsp;and&nbsp;Night Dragon.
