It then launched a second Falcon 9 mission less than two hours later from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at 3:24 p.m. EDT (12:24 p.m. local time).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both launches carried 28 Starlink satellites, with Starlink noting it has now passed 10,000 satellites launched in total for the constellation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX first launched two prototype Starlink satellites in February 2018, and began to build out the constellation with two launches in 2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to independent astronomer Jonathan McDowell who tracks Starlink satellites, there are currently 8,680 Starlink satellites in orbit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Starlink provides internet connectivity to more than 7 million subscribers, according to the most recent subscriber numbers released in August.<\/p>\n<p>The service has had a number of brief outages in the past few months, with outages in July, August, and September.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Starlink constellation is made up of the broadband satellites and more than 650 satellites for its Direct-to-Cell service.
