Panasonic Avionics <\/b>and Intellian Technologies<\/b> are working together on a new aviation antenna compatible with Eutelsat<\/b>\u2019s OneWeb constellation. The antenna is intended only for Low-Earth Orbit (LEO), and Panasonic noted it can be used alongside other LEO terminals for multi-constellation service. <\/p>\n
\u201cI expect many airlines to adopt a multi-terminal approach, and they can quickly and affordably add this terminal to any connectivity-equipped aircraft to immediately offer multi-orbit capabilities,\u201d John Wade, vice president of Connectivity at Panasonic Avionics, said in a release. <\/p>\n
The new terminal system will be available to Panasonic Avionics\u2019 current and new airline customers for retrofit installations beginning in late 2026. It can also be used to complement existing Panasonic Avionics in-flight connectivity (IFC) service <\/p>\n
Panasonic said the antenna will offer speeds of up to 195 Mbps and less than 100 milliseconds of latency. It is designed to be less than half the weight of a typical multi-orbit or Geostationary (GEO) IFC terminal. The terminal system features Intellian\u2019s new LEO-only aviation antenna, and will integrate the modem and controller into a design without a radome. It is designed to be installed overnight for quick installation. <\/p>\n
