{"id":48730,"date":"2025-07-29T22:01:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T14:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/ssc-awards-five-pts-g-contracts-to-viasat-astranis-and-others\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T22:01:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T14:01:20","slug":"ssc-awards-five-pts-g-contracts-to-viasat-astranis-and-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/ssc-awards-five-pts-g-contracts-to-viasat-astranis-and-others\/","title":{"rendered":"SSC Awards Five PTS-G Contracts to Viasat, Astranis, and Others"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><strong>U.S. Space Force<\/strong>\u2019s Space Systems Command (SSC) is awarding contracts for the Protected Tactical Satcom-Global (PTS-G) program to <strong>Boeing<\/strong>, <strong>Northrop Grumman<\/strong>, <strong>Viasat<\/strong>, <strong>Astranis<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Intelsat General<\/strong>, the U.S. division of Luxembourg\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>SES<\/strong>, which bought Intelsat this month.<\/p>\n<p>The awards announced this week are initial, firm fixed price orders for $37.5 million. The overall PTS-G Indefinite Delivery\/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is worth up to $4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>SSC said in a release that each awardee will mature a design and provide demonstrations based upon their established commercial product lines, to meet PTS-G requirements. The results will inform follow-on orders.<\/p>\n<p>SSC said on Tuesday said that it plans to award a PTS-G production contract next year to meet initial operational capability \u201cwith a projected launch in 2028, putting the first PTS-G satellite in orbit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA second wave of production awards for additional PTS-G satellite capability is planned for 2028, with launch planned for 2031,\u201d SSC said.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, SSC said that it planned a&nbsp;competition to award \u201cup to four Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract for PTS-G as well as PTS-G Design and Demonstration Delivery Order 001.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PTS is the follow-on to&nbsp;Lockheed Martin\u2019s Advanced Extremely High Frequency communications satellite constellation. The program includes PTS-G, PTS-Resilient (PTS-R), and PTS-Prototype payloads.<\/p>\n<p>PTS-G delivers resilience to military users worldwide with proliferated small satellites providing anti-jam capability in GEO, SSC said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLower complexity\u201d PTS-G Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites in Ka-band and X-band are to fill a gap between the \u201cmore focused\u201d PTS-R and the \u201cbroadly-available but also the lower assured access capabilities provided by existing\/emerging milsatcom and commercial services,\u201d Space Force has said.<\/p>\n<p>PTS-G was a new start in the Department of the Air Force\u2019s&nbsp;fiscal 2025 budget request&nbsp;(<em>Defense Daily<\/em>, March 14, 2024).
