BAE Systems<\/b> and Hanwha Systems<\/b> have signed a new MoU to develop a multi-sensor satellite system to collect radio frequency (RF) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. <\/p>\n
Announcing the MoU on Tuesday, the companies said the system would be marketed to international markets and combine BAE Systems\u2019 ultra-wide band RF sensors and Hanwha Systems\u2019 SAR expertise into an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capability. The release said that on-board edge processors will process data collected to deliver insights and intelligence. <\/p>\n
Sung-Chan Song, head of the Space Division for Hanwha Systems, commented in a release this will help Hanwha \u201cfurther expand our presence in the global satellite market.\u201d<\/p>\n
It marks a collaboration between the U.K. and South Korean companies. BAE Systems noted the company has operated in Korea for decades and serves Korean industrial customers with capabilities such as electronic warfare, avionics, airborne radios, GPS and naval guns.<\/p>\n

BAE Systems is working on a cluster of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites called Azalea to collect data in space, expected to launch later this year.
