Maritime Launch Services will apply the tax credit to construction costs for a dedicated launch pad for small launch vehicles \u2013 a project dubbed Spaceport Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>This brings the company\u2019s CITC funding total to $30.7 million. The CITC is a targeted incentive program that offsets 25% of eligible capital expenditures on approved projects in Nova Scotia, with a maximum benefit of $100 million<\/p>\n<p>Maritime Launch Services is designing Spaceport Nova Scotia as a separate, stand-alone launch platform for small launch vehicles with a full suite of specialized infrastructure required for safe orbital launch operations, including a flame diverter, gas and propellant system interfaces, electrical and power systems, civil works, and other mission-critical components.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis support from the Province sends a clear message to the global space industry that Nova Scotia is open for business,\u201d Stephen Matier, President and CEO of Maritime Launch, said in the announcement. \u201cWith the help of the CITC, we are building the foundation for Canada\u2019s commercial space sector, bringing jobs, innovation, and global investment to rural Nova Scotia and sovereign launch capability to Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian province of Nova Scotia will issue a Capital Investment Tax Credit (CITC) worth approximately $10.5 million (Canadian Dollars) to Maritime Launch Services, a Canadian space company that has been working to build a spaceport in Nova Scotia.
