{"id":49267,"date":"2025-04-29T17:32:50","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T09:32:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/slingshot-aerospace-offering-sovereign-space-domain-awareness-capabilities\/"},"modified":"2025-04-29T17:32:50","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T09:32:50","slug":"slingshot-aerospace-offering-sovereign-space-domain-awareness-capabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/slingshot-aerospace-offering-sovereign-space-domain-awareness-capabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Slingshot Aerospace Offering Sovereign Space Domain Awareness Capabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>Space Domain Awareness provider&nbsp;<strong>Slingshot Aerospace<\/strong>&nbsp;on Tuesday debuted what it says is the \u201cworld\u2019s first\u201d package to provide sovereign nations with their own space tracking capabilities, decreasing their reliance on outside help in gaining insights into the space above their skies.<\/p>\n<p>Slingshot\u2019s offering gives potential customers options to choose their sensors, which include the company\u2019s Horus and Argus starting arrays that peer into Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geosynchronous orbit (GEO), respectively, and Varda, a gimbaled electro-optical sensor that can see objects in LEO and GEO in daytime.<\/p>\n<p>Countries that have assets in space currently rely on a \u201cpowerhouse,\u201d typically the U.S., to provide them with space domain awareness so they can keep their spacecraft safe, and to know who is flying over their space, Erik Ekwurzel, chief data and intelligence officer of Slingshot, told&nbsp;<em>Defense Daily<\/em>&nbsp;last week.<\/p>\n<p>Some of Slingshot\u2019s customers want a \u201csovereign capability\u201d to begin to \u201chave more control over their own destiny\u201d around space domain awareness, he said. This control prevents them from potentially being cut off from the data that the U.S. or others typically provide them, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Customers that acquire their own sensors will also be able to tap into Slingshot\u2019s global network, which consists of more than 220 sensors at 22 sites, and at the same time expand the \u201cfederated sensor network so that everybody who is in the federation will have much more global access to data,\u201d Ekwurzel said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Slingshot\u2019s customers will be able to license the company\u2019s cloud-based sensor orchestration and data processing suite, which can provide capabilities such as anomaly alerts, space object catalog maintenance, tasking orchestration, and more.<\/p>\n<p>With space becoming increasingly congested, \u201cit\u2019s just becoming harder for people to make sure that their satellites don\u2019t bump into something,\u201d Ekwurzel said.<\/p>\n<p><em>This story was first published by Defense Daily<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Space Domain Awareness provider&nbsp;Slingshot Aerospace&nbsp;on Tuesday debuted what it says is the \u201cworld\u2019s first\u201d package to provide sovereign nations with their own space tracking capabilities, decreasing their reliance on outside help in gaining insights into the space above their skies.
