The company says upgrades will result in an over 35% increase in peak speeds for customers. Anuvu announced the improvements, April 22.

Introduced in 2022, Dedicated Space optimizes network performance by dedicating satellite capacity to individual aircraft and passengers, enabling low-latency and aiming to offer a reliable internet experience. Dedicated Space is now implemented on over 800 aircraft across six airline clients within North America and Europe.

Anuvu reported these aircraft have experienced a 2x increase in download speed, 4x increase in upload capability and over 65% higher availability during satellite and beam changes than Anuvu’s legacy network platform. With the upgrade, Anuvu said it has seen more than one-third increase in peak download speed.

Anuvu also installed the ground segment for the upcoming start of MicroGEO service, which included the next generation of Dedicated Space. Two recently launched Astranis satellites will support Anuvu.

“We’re excited to have such a positive response to the increasing demand for inflight connectivity performance. The results show extremely fast satellite handovers and the lowest latency of any GEO-based satcom system, meaning industry-leading performance for our airline’s passengers,” Mike Pigott, EVP Connectivity, Anuvu, said in a statement.

Via Satellite recently interviewed Anuvu senior vice president of Aviation Connectivity at AIX, about how Anuvu is structuring its offerings for customers in the IFC market.

Anuvu is making improvements to its Dedicated Space network platform which will see airline customers get a faster connectivity service.
