It will enable real-time fleet monitoring, and support a future \u201cpositive train control\u201d system to monitor and automatically control trains. It also gives VLI\u2019s control teams to communicate directly with train operators in emergencies or to provide information about impending issues. It will support licensing trains through IP communication.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project was custom-developed to meet the specific needs of VLI. It is a 10-year project is currently in the commissioning phase and will modernize more than 1,800 kilometers of railway network in the states of S\u00e3o Paulo, Goi\u00e1s, and Minas Gerais, and strategic sites like the Port of Santos. Globalsat is working in partnership with Viasat on the project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fl\u00e1vio Pfeifer, signaling and telecommunications specialist at VLI, commented: \u201cRailways increasingly rely on advanced telecommunications systems to control and monitor locomotives.
