The center aims to strengthen the company\u2019s position in global satellite communications.<\/p>\n<p>Globalstar is preparing for a refresh of its satellite constellation, and a separate, next-generation constellation. Last month, Globalstar awarded MDA Space a $768 million contract to manufacture more than 50 MDA Aurora software-defined digital satellites for the next-generation constellation.<\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in Covington since 2010, Globalstar plans to add 75 Louisiana-based positions by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr attended the grand opening.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to Leader Scalise and Chairman Carr for celebrating this significant milestone with Globalstar,\u201d said Dr. Paul Jacobs, Globalstar CEO. \u201cThis expansion underscores Globalstar\u2019s mission to deliver solutions, as well as our commitment to the state of Louisiana, the local workforce, and the regional economy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Globalstar opened a new satellite operations control center (SOCC) at its Covington, Louisiana headquarters on March 17.
