Planet Labs<\/b> has named retired General John \u201cJay\u201d Raymond to its board of directors, the company announced Jan. 16.<\/p>\n
Gen. Raymond served as the first Chief of Space Operations of the U.S. Space Force and was a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As the first Chief of Space Operations, Gen. Raymond was responsible for organizing, training, and equipping all space forces. Prior to the Space Force, he also led the reestablishment of the U.S. Space Command as the eleventh U.S. combatant command.<\/p>\n
\u201cTimely, high-resolution satellite imagery is now more critical than ever to help combat the world\u2019s most pressing issues, from natural disasters to geopolitical conflict. Gen. Raymond\u2019s election to Planet\u2019s board is expected to become effective in early 2025.<\/p>\n
