Japanese satellite manufacturer Axelspace <\/b>is debuting a new service for in-orbit demonstration of space components, called AxelLiner Laboratory or AL Lab. The service allocates space on Axelspace\u2019s 100 kg-class microsatellites to customers for their in-orbit demonstration equipment. <\/p>\n
Axelspace said that the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has provided in-orbit demonstration opportunties through the Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstration Program since 2016, but the company sees a greater need in Japan for in-orbit demonstration opportunities.<\/p>\n
Axelspace said this service is a good fit for companies that want to test their components for space application at an early stage. The company announced AL Lab on Wednesday, along with a new memorandum with ASPINA Shinano Kenshi Co., which is developing a reaction wheel for microsatellites. The companies have agreed to launch the wheel in 2026 and conduct an in-orbit demonstration, which will be the first utilization of the AL Lab.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the number of satellites launched increases rapidly, the demand for in-orbit demonstration of satellite components is steadily growing. We believe that responding to these needs in a timely manner will further invigorate the entire space industry.
