{"id":51237,"date":"2024-05-23T21:00:10","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/idirect-gov-nabs-diu-contract-to-mitigate-5g-interference-with-satellite-communication\/"},"modified":"2024-05-23T21:00:10","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:00:10","slug":"idirect-gov-nabs-diu-contract-to-mitigate-5g-interference-with-satellite-communication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/idirect-gov-nabs-diu-contract-to-mitigate-5g-interference-with-satellite-communication\/","title":{"rendered":"iDirect Gov Nabs DIU Contract to Mitigate 5G Interference With Satellite Communication"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Defense Innovation Unit<\/strong> (DIU) on May 21 said it awarded a contract to <strong>iDirect Government<\/strong>&nbsp;to prototype the company\u2019s technology to mitigate signal interference by 5G radio frequency spectrum on satellite communications, which suffers due to the overlap.<\/p>\n<p>The value of the award was not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>DIU, the Defense Department unit charged with getting commercially-developed technologies and solutions adopted by the military services and defense agencies, said that 5G wireless technology impacts the \u201cquality and dependability\u201d of satellite communication signals and is worsening as 5G telecommunications infrastructure is deployed more widely globally.<\/p>\n<p>iDirect said it will supply an operational prototype of its 5G co-channel interference mitigation solution that leverages its Communication Signal Interference Removal technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny signal interference is harmful to defense communications, and our 5G co-channel capability will ensure our customers have the crucial interference mitigation tool that helps them with communications resiliency,\u201d Tim Winter, president of iDirect Government, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>DIU said that if the co-channel solution is defective, \u201cit will herald a significant breakthrough in tackling a broad spectrum of RF interference challenges\u201d by applying the \u201ctechniques and technologies\u201d to other communications and navigation systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAddressing the challenge of 5G co-channel interference is more than a technical hurdle, it\u2019s about ensuring seamless and robust communications for cutting-edge technologies from satellite communications to avionics support systems,\u201d Capt.
