The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency<\/b> (NGA) awarded Maxar Intelligence<\/b> a task order to provide the agency with a Precision3D data bundle covering an area within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility. Maxar Intelligence announced the award on Jan. 4<\/p>\n
The task order is worth about $7.8 million and covers a time frame of less than one year, a representative for the NGA said in response to a Defense Daily<\/em> question via email.<\/p>\n The data will support the NGA\u2019s Office of Geomatics, which maintains 3D geospatial intelligence products.<\/p>\n This award \u201cspeaks to the NGA\u2019s strong partnership with industry and the growing business case for utilizing unclassified, high-quality commercial geospatial data to support national security needs,\u201d said Susanne Hake, general manager of U.S. Government for Maxar Intelligence. <\/p>\n Maxar Intelligence says its Precision3D data suite is built with multiview photogrammetry methods, which results in highly accurate and detailed 3D models with 50-centimeter resolution and absolute accuracy of 3 meters in all dimensions. Under the contract, Maxar will provide its Precision3D surface model, which is a 3D triangulated irregular network (TIN) model of Earth, the company\u2019s most accurate representation of Earth.
