The pilot program will support the <strong>Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency<\/strong> (FFA) efforts to detect illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The contract was awarded by Australia\u2019s <strong>Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade<\/strong> (DFAT).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HawkEye 360 will work with the FFA and provide radio frequency (RF) data, analytics, and training to identify illicit maritime activity, which will support sustainability for the region\u2019s tuna resources.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This award is part of Australia\u2019s commitment to combat IUU fishing as part of the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA), which includes the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pacific Islands encompass a vast and highly trafficked region with rich fisheries resources that present complex challenges for maritime domain awareness,\u201d said Alex Fox, chief growth officer for HawkEye 360. \u201cWe are proud to partner with the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), through support from the Australian Government, to deliver a clearer picture of maritime activity.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Australia has awarded HawkEye 360 a contract for a pilot program for maritime domain awareness in the Pacific Islands, the company announced July 6.
