The orders mark an expansion of Intelsat and Gilat\u2019s deals to support in-flight connectivity (IFC) and cellular backhaul.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Intelsat will use the technology to serve additional aircraft and expand managed services for mobile network operators (MNOs), the companies said. Jean-Philippe Gillet, Intelsat\u2019s senior vice president of Global Sales, Network and Media at Intelsat said the orders will help Intelsat increase network capacity over IS-40e, IS-46, and E10B to meet demand for IFC, cellular backhaul, and other applications in the Western Hemisphere, Africa, and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGilat\u2019s platforms continue to distinguish themselves as an operationally-proven system that allows Intelsat to streamline IFC and cellular backhaul service fulfillment all over the world,\u201d Gillet commented.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gilat did not specify which platforms and terminals were ordered, but the company has logged a number of orders from Intelsat over the past year and a half \u2014&nbsp;including for the SkyEdge II-c and SkyEdge IV for IFC services. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gilat Satellite Networks has received \u201csignificant multimillion dollar orders\u201d from Intelsat for its platforms and terminals, the company announced Monday.
