{"id":53580,"date":"2023-04-22T00:49:54","date_gmt":"2023-04-21T16:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-productionenv-bjg9h2g2bgg5b8aa.southeastasia-01.azurewebsites.net\/news\/fcc-updates-spectrum-sharing-rules-for-ngso-constellations\/"},"modified":"2023-04-22T00:49:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-21T16:49:54","slug":"fcc-updates-spectrum-sharing-rules-for-ngso-constellations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starpath.global\/news\/fcc-updates-spectrum-sharing-rules-for-ngso-constellations\/","title":{"rendered":"FCC Updates Spectrum-Sharing Rules for NGSO Constellations"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>FCC<\/strong> voted to adopt a new framework for spectrum sharing among Non-Geostationary (NGSO) systems that Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said will promote efficiency, competition, and innovation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new framework adopted during the FCC\u2019s April 20 meeting will give operators clarity on spectrum-sharing between NGSO systems licensed in different processing rounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The FCC\u2019s new rules clarify that certain sharing procedures are limited to systems that were in the same processing round, and systems in later rounds will have to coordinate with and protect earlier systems. The FCC also included a sunset provision to promote competition in the industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe adopt a sunset on this spectrum priority that kicks in 10 years after a later-round system is authorized. Now the first movers will enjoy the advantage they\u2019ve earned by daring to think big and take on that risk, but they won\u2019t be able to hold on to that regulatory privilege forever.
